i have a 99 ford cougar and ive just brought it.. the car was running ok for the first two days and now it stalls after starting but when restarting it, its fine. any clues? also its not got no engine management light..?

Take it to Autozone and see what codes they pull. There's no charge for that.

Check to see if you have a vaccum leak. If you have one the the car will stall after you started. It could also be the IACV they known to go bad in these engines. If your IAVC is bad you should be throwing a code.

There are times when the IAC doesn't throw a code. But most of the time it will.

This happened to me too...I sent it in to dealer, they spent 3 hours to search for the problems and told me that I need to change a "module" dont remember the name now....it was a expensive one around $500..so I said no...

so i didnt do anything and you know what....the problem was gone even without change the module....however, I paid the labor cost around $350 to search for the "problem".
