Fuel Gage Calibration 2002 Cougar

Fuel pump stopped working. Purchased another from NAPA. Worked good for about 1 year and 3 months, then the fuel gage started acting erratic. It would go to empty even though it was full of gas, then even after driving about 350 miles it would still say I have 1/2 of tank left. Anyway I pulled out the pump, all looked good. Float was working, etc. I just wondered if there was a way to re-calibrate the fuel gage? From now on out I think I will stay with OEM parts if everyone thinks it's the float, which is one unit with the pump. Of course out of warranty for NAPA. Cost $200 from Napa.

There's no way to calibrate the sending units. It needs to be replaced. I like OEM parts best too.
