Ford's high performance Mustang and Cougar will be available for sale through all Australian Ford dealerships from January 21, 2002.
The redistribution of Mustang and Cougar will allow FTE dealerships to concentrate on the new highly acclaimed T-Series range, while also giving other dealerships access to these iconic imported models.
"Non-FTE dealers around Australia have been wanting access to Mustang and Cougar since they first arrived in the country," says General Manager, Sales, Ms Rebecca Stackpole.
"This new initiative allows them to display these vehicles in their showrooms and sell directly to customers without having to direct them to FTE dealerships."
FTE dealerships around Australia will continue to operate with the new T-Series range as their main focus.
"The launch of the T3 range of vehicles provided us with the perfect opportunity to refocus FTE in line with our increased involvement in motorsport," says Rebecca.
"FTE will provide vehicles that redefine the boundaries for performance and styling to customers who are passionate about high-performance Australian V8's."

I know someone who said "ive always been interested to look at tickfrod vehicles, and maybe when im in the market for one I might choose one, but ive never seen any tickford delaerships around".
Now it doesn't help that In Geelong we dont have any FTE delaerships but still, if someone who didnt know much were to want a ticfkrod vehicle, then surely he/she would look for a Ford/Tickford delership and not know what FTE means. Most opele dont even know what FTE means, even though they just know it's "fords version of HSV". I don't like it beeing reffered to as this. But it's true. And I think tickfrod delaers should be a seperete dealer next to a ford dealer. "You want fords come in here, you want tickfords go next door" or somthing like that.

Speaking of Cougars, I've seen a few with mild body kits over the standard form, but yesterday while walking home from the station, I saw what must have been Cougar-rice. Very very wild body kit, and stickers that I assume reffered to the kit and other crap on the car but I didn't get a chance to read it all. With the limited numbers these are selling here, I wonder if they are sourcing kits from the US/UK?

Good stuff, it'll hopefully lift their exposure and increase sales. I guess ford might want some visible coupes in their showroom to try and blunt the monaro blow
