i have a 99 mercury cougar with the 2.5 v6 automatic. was hooking up a new radio and went to turn the key forward and noticed when i turned the key forward, there is no power no lights no blinkers, whindshield wipers, but the radio does work and the horn. no fuel pump and it will not let me put it in gear. checked fueses battery and thats all good. it wil not start and now guages work. is this a security thing? please help me!

Did you get a spark when you were working on the radio? Check the fuses under the hood to make sure they are okay. What's the production date?

checked fueses again and it was a 20 amp big fuse that runs horn headlights and ignition. heard this is a common problems so hope this helps someone in the future!
