Exclamation transmission issue?

Recently my girlfriends 99 cougar started to have a weird intermittent transmission problem. every now and then it feels like it goes into neutral (from a stop) when i press the gas and then pops into drive almost like a neutral drop. its not like its slipping or anything which is why im thinking it might be the transmission range sensor. its a v6 auto. any ideas? thanks.

the tranny has also been replaced about 20k miles ago

Re: transmission issue?

Transmission range sensor is bad. My Cougar did the same thing. The part is $47 at AutoZone. It is a bit of a chore to change. Its on the left side of the engine almost directly under the battery tray and buried under radiator hoses.
