flappist ... change your name ... it sounds like the sound your mouth makes little fella ... find your bib and put it on mate ...
that said .. I'll post the full results of the other FPV cars here in the next week
i.e. kays, trannys, fuel types etc .. maybe it will be usefull for those who are wondering about such things
we also dynoed
four XR8s .... 208.1 auto, 202.9 auto, 212.9 auto, 205 manual
two Pusuits ... 230.0 manual, 231.5 auto
XL 5.4 auto made about 200 too ...
15 XRTs ... their results ... 190-210
these cars were stock
some non-stock cars were pumping 225, 246, 264, 271 etc ...
Just a note on the dyno. I DO think it was optimistic but that wasn't the point of the whole day.
The cars were all dynoed at the same place and time so the results are comparable.
It was very interesting to see the difference in cars that were for all intensive purposes the same.
Even though we turned turned up late, yes it was a good day !
the dyno is calibrated against APS ... for obvious reasons down the track ... and the shoot-out mode gets rid of most of the atmospheric variables taken from a weather station ... but yeah
that wasn't what it was all about ... just rolling these cars on the dyno ...roll them off and then roll another one on ..etc etc ...
we actually had a bit of trouble getting ahold of a good number of V8s .... maybe there was fear in the air (j/k)
I sense a formal challenge in the air ...hmmm
how about (and we are talking stock cars only with about 10000ks running on the recommended fuel - cars in sedan form)
3 auto XR8s, 3 manual XR8s
3 auto GTs, 3 manual GTs
3 auto XRTs, 3 manual XRTs
in Melbourne on a Saturday and the cars will be checked for mods etc ...
Shane came up with 246.8 Kw yet mine was dynoed (elsewhere ) at about 180 Kw. Down the 1/4 I beat shane by nearly 1/2 a second and we have the same gearing and similar tyres. My Mph is about 4 more than shanes. ( This isn't to have a go at shane, it's just to compare )
I think the numbers here already speak for themselves. The Xr8s actually made more power on the dyno .. Do you want to be spanked again ??? :s6: :s6: :s6:
mate ... bring yours down one day ... Mark will wack it on ... I hear what you say with the figures and I was f'n surprised when I saw the 246 ... but it roared ... a bit like the stang ...sorry ... the stang like it ...age corrected
I crawled everywhere to get those V8s (one had 50km on the clock hehehe)... thought you could get them in a few minutes ....
the offer is there ... Mark and I can set the place up for a proper shootout ... think about it awhile
as for getting spanked again... were "we"? the never ending battle ...
I'm running generally at about 260 but was down to 240 (239.9) for the day ...
cheers
ps ... what were your actual terminal speeds on the 1/4

Be nice, people who attack others personally tend to have a short life on the forums.
Please note that not ONE but ALL of the above readings are significantly higher than any others ever detailed on the forums or other places.
It is just coincedental that every car measured is higher than average?
Here we go with the good old Dyno debate, atleast it's good reading though, everyone will have their own thought's on this issue, but me I think those reading's are a little high, but hey if the customer is happy and they were all run on the same day after one another we can get a judgement on the diffrence's between the GT's and XR8,
let's not get onto the dyno debate as I don't think there is any answer.
I guess the thing is if you get mods done, get it measured on the same dyno as the previous measurement or it mans nothing.
mate ... I couldn't help myself .. but wake up !! I was having a lend of you ... duhhh
nice people knock before they barge in ... oh .. was that nice?
but I can take it ...
as for the figures ... who cares whether ALL other dynoes are wrong (which is a possibility you know!) ... it is the doing them all at once that is important....
it's about the cars ... not the dynoes ...dynoes are a tuning tool used for before/after or relative ... I'll take the stang to Herrod Motorsport and calibrate all things together ... the dyno universe will be centred
galaxy ... there is a distinct difference betwen the XR8s and the GTs, but not much difference between the XRTs and XR8s (and the 5.4-220).
Though far more XRTs were dynoed, the general difference between the XRTs and XR8 in straight max power was hard to pick, the difference in torque well ..the XRTs looked a lttle better (alot actually)...
it appeared that the cars loosen up about 5-10rwkw ....
we are doing driveline losses in the weeks to come...
Good to see we can finally put the XR6 Turbos are more powerful than the XR8s debate behind us. My XR8 auto made 212.9 kw with only 2500kms on the clock. Lined up a workmate in an XRT auto with similar k's and ran neck and neck to 180. Seems the extra power just pulls along the extra weight. C'mon Ford wheres the 5.4 alloy block.
Yep for my two bobs worth I reckon the dynos a bit optimistic, especially when all cars ran lots better than averages. Does that mean the 252kw thing was putting out 350 plus at the flywheel?
Stock? Sounds a bit sus to me, but makes for good readind thats for sure.

that is hard to pick for peak power wouldn't you say? :twitch:
cheers (and thanks bossXR8 for coming up from Geelong for the day)
