6 SPEED T-56 MANUAL BOSS 260 (First Drive)

Well, i had a good drive of an XR8 260 with the new 6 speed manual and i cant think of 1 better new feature to add to such a car!! The close ratio 6 speed makes a world of difference and every gear you grab drops the revs by only 500rpm. Simply sensational. I do not think the 0-100kkm/h acceleration will improve much but the 1/4 mile will for sure. Reverse is in an unsual position being top right, next to fifth but gear shift quality and clutch pedal feel transforms the traditonal feel into somthing good.

I strongly recommend this manual box to any enthuiast. Feel free to ask any questions in relation to this thread.

I enjoyed it too, the gearshift is very well spaced apart, 100km/hr in 6th is similar to what it is in the 5 speed, but all the other gears are so much more usable

I couldnt get over how refined and smooth it felt...i'm damn sure my ute didnt feel like that before it had mods. Even the handling felt smoother....maybe mines worn out though, dont think it is much harder in ride with 18's over the 17's

That gearbox in the typhoon or a GT should make them really boogy

Got to love the T56 ay. hence why holden has ran them in the GenIII

I have driven a BA GT many times and I didn't think It needed a 6 speed, It is realy good the way it is. I think this might be a marketing ploy to bring Ford inline with GM, But anyway who's to say? not me......

With my experience with t5 and the T56 the T56 is far better, just didnt like the feel of the T5 slotting gears, but the T5 did feel more firm than the T56 in the GenIII

good point simon, but unlike the Holdens our 6th gear is usable from 80km with the stock gear ratio's

The shift quality is pretty good too, still longer than a T-3650 with a short shift but a lot better shifts especially 2nd-3rd than the current BA

Mine isnt a T5...it's a tremec 3650

XR6T's and below have the T5 in manuals
