600Nm V8 For Ford OZ

MOTOR reported that a 600Nm V8 was on the books for the near future (a year or so) and speculated (for valid reason) that it could be used in the GT-HO After speaking to a ford insider (thats an engineer) he confirmed there would be a V8 of that ferocity and that it would be forced fed. Looks like the Nat. Asp. fans (including me) can bow out ahh well... looks like this V8 force fed combo could be and should be a ripsnorter!

i would be hoping for even more than 600nm. To overcome the weight, i want to see 650Nm+

A 600NM GT-HO would have to be much lighter weight than the Current GT To be the vehicle it should. Personally i would like to see between 650-700NM.

A GTHO weighing the same a s acurrent GT with 50 more kw and 80nm would probably only be just quicker than a current GTS sedan.

Agreed, a GTHO would need ATLEAST 350kw and lose some weight (BAII) before it could be the vehicle it should be.

I'm tipping GTHO will be a limited edition and be $100K made of alluminium and have 500HP. Won't see it till BA2 or later though.

Ford apprently have researched and tested aluminium BA's but it was too expensive.

If it is too expensive for the whole range there is no way it would be feasible for one limited production model

Just as a comparrison i was looking at the Mercedes SL55 AMG.
5.4 litre same as the GT but only single o/head cam
Supercharged it has a redline of 6000rpm same redline as the Ford and the Merc weighs 1965kg's, one heavy son of a gun like the Ford. BUT the Merc does a standing 1/4 in 12.3 sec a top speed of 330 kph , 368 kw and 700nm of torque. now if ford cant get close to that with its Double Cam jobbie than something is seriously wrong. all without lightening the chassis.

Im certainly hoping that HO does'nt happen untill series 2 when it can be based on a lighter car. I am also hoping that a lighter car does'nt mean 20kg either. Around the 100kg mark would be ok.

I think that was a all alloy 5.4 motor, not the cast block that's in the BA's ATM. Still, that would sure be one way to lose some weight off the BA, but then again the Gen III is all alloy too and we all know what they're going through ATM.
