Hi all
Just wondering if any of you have had any pinging with your GT underload and what you have done or had Ford do to rectify the problem.
And No it is not the Fuel as it has been tested.
Any advise and ideas would be appreciated
Only run it on Optimax and a couple of times with Mobil Synergy 8000
Have had Computer reflashed with latest update and have had top engine clean to de-carbonise the combustion chamber

Okay can someone describe to me what a 'pinging' engine sounds like? I keep hearing this term however i've never actually heard the symptoms.

45,000km service coming up - and i'll be asking for a sizable list of fixes:
* Gearbox (3rd time)
* Steering click (5th time)
* Brake Shudder (2nd time, and has the applied "Fix")
* etc...

Mine does ping as well. Had it in for its 30,000K service and the plugs were removed and reset. Pinging is still there under load. And yes you are right it is not the fuel. I have for the last 10 tanks only used Shell optimax. No answers from the dealer as to why. Another Boss 290 mystry.

Try switching to BP Ultimate or Mobil Synergy

I agree, try using the Mobil 98 octane.

I use BP Ultimate exclusively and mine pings too. Had it at the dealer last week and they downloaded the computer updates..... still pings. I think it must be a "feature".

Try Mobil Synergy 8000 add a bottle of octane booster normally around $19 a shot ,if the pining noise goes away then it must be the timing,just get it dynod.

are you sure your using ulimate or the normal BP premium?

Becuase a lot of BP stores still use the old 95RON stuff.

Nope.

I've used all kinds of premium fuel from woolworths (it was an emergency ok!!!), mobil, bp, caltex and shell. No problems with pinging whatsoever. You shouldn't have to use a 98 octane fuel when FPV recommend a minimum of 95.

....and i've applied load.
