Question AU2 XR8 IRS problems

sorry, too lazy to do forum search but, has anyone experienced top shock mounts chopping out on rear left or right?

mine started clunking when leaving my driveway, so i did some investigating and found both RHS and LHS had chopped out the rubber shock mount which the spring seats in. anyone know why, as this car has been looked after, not abused or crashed. anyone else seen this on their AU2 XR8??

Common problem with these. Have changed 2 or 3 in the last 6 months at work.

As above, very common. Ford have no clue how to diagnose it, and it is quite common to drive beside an IRS AU and hear it clunking away. The live rear models in AU just unscrew the top shock mount instead. Passenger side seems to be most common. Ben.

If you're not driving a manual you're really just steering.
