BA XR8 Runs 13.60 with BPT air only - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I got a shock on Saturday night with the times I got. I put a BPT cold air kit on the Boss mostly as an experiment. I got the kit second hand and put it on and since then the car has only gone better and the fuel economy has gone from max of 350 K a tank around town to a minimum of 400. This is the only mod I have done to the car. My trusty Melways has been with me on every run that car has made so I don't bother lightening the thing by taking out the spare or stuff like that.

It goes to show that the BA isn't the slug it's made out to be. I may have a better than average car and the track was damned grippy for me but the runs are on the board ( so to speak ) and cannot be denied.
I don't think I will bother trying to beat that as it is my everyday car and I don't want to break it but a 13.5 is soooooooo close !!

Ford could do worse than to do this sort of thing to increase the BA's power and fuel economy with no great cost. What a damned fine car the BA XR8 is.

You sure do have the runs on the board Jeff, must of been from the BPT cai that used to be on my car...can i have it back? lol

13.6 is incredible, goes to show that the 14.4 or whatever from MOTOR and the like is afar from whats possible...the launch is the key to any good run and the 1.9 is the key to it!

It's a manual .. I have never got even close to a 2.0 60 footer before this car ( the XA would tend to go up in smoke when I tried too hard ) so to run a 1.9 has made me damned happy!!!
As Rodderz has said, the trick is the launch .. should I muff the launch then it would run OK times but nothing spectacular. I suspect the Wheels guys didn't get enough time to practice the launches.

No Rodderz.. it's Miiiiiiiiiiiine now !!!! I took it off a week back and couldn't stand watching the fuel level sink before my eyes so it went back on. I dodn't feel a lot of difference when I put it on but when I took it off I noticed quite a bit, obviously the computer had some learning to do.
