the Boss Gets His Chin Scratched Aahhhhh

Must have been something in the water last night. I went to the local BP for fuel and tyre pressure check and decided to do the tyres first, when I finished I swung the car around in to head for the bowser and Ccccrrrrruuuuunnnncccchhhhhhhhh I clipped the lower left hand front on an invisable lower gutter and the poor bastard looks like someone took to the lower section (Under the driving light from the edge of the mouth to the outer edge of the bumper) with a bloody orbital sander.
Then I decided to let the petrol wait till later and pulled up in a side street to look at the damage After that and to eliminate any chance of someone else winning the Dopey Friday Bastard award I pulled into another BP and gave the thing a gutful of 92 instead of 98 (wondered why it appeared to be 6c a litre cheaper) in my defence though BP have decided to change the colour code of the green handle with the brown, for a blue plastic tag on 98 and a green plastic tag for 92 and I didn't look.
Surveyed the damage this morning and out with the touch up bottle for the deeper scrapes and it came up quite well Now I have a full bottle of octane booster in the tank and I have to burn a full tank of gas and refill it with 98 before the Unichip gets a re-twink on Mon morning. Sometimes I guess we just have one of those days. Any way does anyone know if those touch up paint people are much good at fixing the small areas like that, or should I do the whole bumper to get a good job.

Some days it doesn't pay to leave the house....

Hope the repairs don't end up being too much.

On the bright side, now you've got a real good reason to go for a long blast to use up that tank full of fuel.

Re: the Boss Gets His Chin Scratched Aahhhhh

greetings Doc
sorry to hear of your misfortune

as for the Unichip, i would run atleast & full tank of fuel through the car prior to haveing the Unichip re-tuned

i belive that the ECU will relearn any changes in that time & i would also only run the car on the brand of fuel the Unichip was tuned on

let us know how you go

regards
rod

You could always come over to melbourne for another quick visit, that would definitely blow out the cobwebs. APS could do the the retune and you would be using the same Dyno, thereby getting the only tru indication of the effect of the changes. A different dyno may give you a different result and therefore you are still noe the wiser.

I'm going to drive until the tank is empty tomorrow, then fill it up with 98 for the Unichip retune. I will take the full respray of the bumper option, which is a bugger because the series 2 isn't that far away so its burned dosh really. I will pull most of the mods off this one and swap them onto the series 2 at delivery time, that way I only have to do the Quads and the Unichip, which will require a nice 10 day break for a run-in drive to Melbourne.
