Brake Test Vounteer(s)

Hi guys
Following on from some information that came my way I'd be interested in finding a couple of GT owners willing to volunteer their skills, vehicles and a couple of hours for some definitive brake testing in Melbourne.

Venue will most likely be Calder.
I need one x Brembo equipped and one x Premium equipped GT for the exercise.
Vehicles should preferably have similar mileage.
I will provide the GT-p for comparative purposes along with the Stalker ATTS to measure time/distance/speed.

At this stage I am only proposing a couple of ABS activated stops from 60 and 110 km/h set by cruise and calibrated with the Stalker which is accurate to 0.1 km/h.

Good reaction times are essential along with a sense of humour and a helmet.

If you are interested in helping out please PM me.

Cheers
Russ

Hey russell,

Why can't you get rid of your rice or nice poll since it's dead?

If the comparison is to see if the Brembo upgrade is worth the money, then I would suggest that the test be carried out going hell for leather down a mountain (Bathurst) because when these brakes get hot, that's when the Brembo (or Herrod) package shines! In fact, while driving in the wet, the standard package are actually better because they don't have to be hot to work, and the don't get as saturated for some unknown reason.

Re: Brake Test Vounteer(s)

Actually I think that what he is trying to show what the value to performance is for the average driver.

Average drivers that buy the upgrades for the name may like to know what the actual increase/decrease in performance may be. Not everyone that buys this upgrade gets it because they know what the performance numbers are and what they "can do." Several buyers just buy Brembos for the name. Why should they suffer the 6k premium price tag to find out that this upgrade is actually worse off than the stockers that are being "upgraded" from?

I have not seen any mumbers from anyone regarding the difference in stopping between the two. Be it Ford or be it a third party. Mind you I am not in OZ so I dont get to read everything that you do.

I really think that this test should be out there. Allowing more than just Ford to know what the differences are. If it is anything like other Premium brake upgrades out there from "other" manufacturers there will not be any substantial increase in braking performance. Too many manufacturers like to use a name brand to promo and sell an upgrade that is completely unnecessary.

Blah I need sleep. I am rambling now.

*edit for typo

I have Brembos and i hate them for one reason, You are really limited varieties of rims that will fit over them.

Thumbs down Re: Brake Test Vounteer(s)

If you've got BREMBOS you might want to find out the replacement price for pads and rotors, because they will wear out.I had a price from a the loacl Ford Dealer and was scared shitless.Rotors around $1000 each and pads around the same a set! I'm glad there not on my TS50.

Check this thread out for some info on getting replacement Brembo bits without paying Fords ludicrous prices.
