A little disappointed.... Best was a 14.23 @102.68MPH.
Traction being the huge issue!.. I ran with straight out extractors for 8 or so runs, and simply NO way could I get the power to the ground (wheelspin & sideways 1st, 2nd & 3rd).. Refitted the zorst & much more refined power resulting in 3 or 4 14.2's. Also had 1 day old tyres on, which I'm sure didn't help? Next step is smaller dia rears with some really sticky rubber... Another bugbear with the manual is the hopeless 2nd to 3rd hit & miss shift gate! Honestly, my toploader of 20yrs back leaves these tremecs for dead!.. Anyhow, all in all, a good night (pity there were no other BA's on deck!)
BTW.. Some super quick HSV Monaros around! Black one pulled 11.99, & a yellow one 12.0 dead.
Never mind Charlie, good effort mate. Classic issue with the BOSS BA's in manual form. Unfortunately those manuals are horrid tools for track use. Agree with you on the top loader comment. They were clunky, but fast. A really racing gearbox for their time IMO.
The auto would have made it alot easier to get traction and a fast shift, but then again you don't drive it on the track every day now do you.
Keep at it and get some sticky Micky Thompson’s on the back. Then watch those times fall. Have you improved the airflow of the intake yet? That really helps the BOSS engines as well.
I know that Cam did a 13.7 a couple of weeks ago which still wasnt bad considering the traction problem he had from launching, with better practice he should get down to the low 13s or even into the 12s
Cheers John
