Well After Seeing this Mercedes, i dont think the FPV GT-HO can be the fastest 4 door car in the world... this Mercedes S600 L is a 5.5ltr V12 Turbo MPFI, 5 Speed Auto Touch! Unless the next GTHO would be V8 Twin Turbo, It wont make it as the Fastest/Quickest sedan!
Sure that thing's a grunter, but its not all that great.
Look at the weight of it, 2135 kg's, and its kw is "only" 368, which although very powerfull probably doesnt give it that much of an advantage in the power to weight ratio, although 800 nm of torque is pretty beefy eh.. Although if you tune the supercharged capa boss 290 I'd say it'd give this thing a run for its money.
Brabus make a much gruntier version with 471 kw and over 1000 nm of torque.. Thats the one id be worrying about..
Rob Herrod pulled 330Kw out of an AU, so I see no reason why FPV can't do it. Lessening kerb weight and adding suspension tweaks, should see something very desirable.
looking at the CAPA XR8, the next GTHO has to have at least 370 - 400kW. i know that sounds bloody high, but it seems so easy to get so much power from this engine with just the addition of a supercharger. With Motor saying Ford is looking at a 6 speed auto good for 630Nm, this baby should fly.
There is NO WAY in that ford is going to make the GTHO the fastest sedan in the world. Yeah it would be lovely to say but who cares. As long as it has heaps of go and doesn't cost as much as as the hi-po mercs and bimmers I think its a winner.
Think about it, the car should/cant be much more that 100k, for a fast car you need to rob a couple of banks. Look at laminges TS for example.
The car will be quick, no doubt, but you have factor in things such as costs and development, I'd say thats why the 427 Monaro died in the arse as well. I dont think we should get to excited.
Lets drop the idea of the GT-HO being the worlds fastest sedan. It won't happen and doesn't need to. The Phase 111 HO was the fastest sedan in the world at that time because no one else made fast four doors, they were all coupes, but times have changed. Traction would be its biggest problem. The german cars use much wider tyres to overcome this problem. The next M5 with its V10 rumoured to have over 400kw will probably take the title.
the phase III was developed to win bathurst by brute force!!!!!
not to be the fastest 4 door sedan in the world that was just a bonus
and times have changed since then so everyone should just forget about that unless anyone here wants ford to make a $250,000+ falcon...
id rather see something more affordable 85-100k with around 350kw, reduced weight and improved handling and maybe even a more expensive Phase 5 race version option with even more power.
