In the latest news section of the Carpoint website www.carpoint.com.au , they say they have driven the GT but can't say anything until the 26th of Feb (media embargo lifted?). They will have a full review on 1 March. With Wheels due out on this day, maybe it's possible that they will have a first drive too?

Carpoint also talks about possible GTHO outputs (375kw?) and say that a Ford insider has effectively confirmed production by denying to make comment about the output of future models (ie. he did not deny its existence).

So, I guess we wait and see!

Ho's gonna blow?

CarPoint drove the 290kW FPV GT last week, but a strict embargo forbids us from publishing anything until after February 26. CarPoint will publish a full review of FPV's ClubSport challenger from March 1.

What we can tell you, however, is that a supercharged version of the 5.4-litre Boss V-eight may be destined for future FPV models. When asked whether FPV had looked at the supercharged 5.4-litre V-eight, perhaps to challenge HSV's 300kW GTS head on, CarPoint was told: "You're now getting into future models. I'm not going to comment on future models."

Hmmm. How do you spell GTHO? Taking a punt and following Ford's aggressive power hike policy - needed to overcome the BA's extra girth - a potential GTS competitor would need at least 330kW. Ford North America is putting the supercharged 5.4-litre V-eight into the GT40 replacement, where it's said to produce 500hp and 500ft-lb. 375kW Falcon anybody?

I know it looks like I'm talking to myself on this thread..... but I've just been to GoAuto and they will have the first full review of the GT on Wednesday 26th at 12.01am, the moment the embargo is lifted.

CarPoint has changed its details. The site says it's going to have a GT review live on the 26th now. That's tomorrow. CarPoint reckons its also got acceleration performance figures. Does Goauto do performance figures?

We found the performance figures on the weekend for the GT but I went back on Monday to confirm them and the link had been removed......

They where

0 - 100km/h in 5.5sec
0-400m in 13.7sec

I don't know how true they are though... but if they it is going to be a damn good package

Thats pretty damn fast, and would put it right there with the GTS in terms of straight line performance. I hope those times are real, for sake of ford, because the GT would blow the clubby out of this world!!!!!!

Just went to the FPV site and it is currently offline....maybe they'll be something new come the morning....

Performance specs perhaps?

I'm betting on a media launch on tv and in print this week as well.

And, maybe we'll get a juicy new tv ad too.
