Well the new diff is in and its 100% on the old one, still a very slight clunk when you try to make it happen but no more bang bang as I go around the roundabouts HOORAY. Thanks to Christian and Jason at McInnerny Ford for being so patient with my continued complaints and getting it right for me. I know that we should expect things to be fixed on something like this but it just seems that some dealers dont care or cant be bothered.( had my whinge now I can go)

Glad you're happy mate and I don't mean to rain on your party, but I bet you're complaining again by the end of the week.

I went through the exact same exercise as you and was momentarily as happy as you, then the old faithful clunk came waltzing on back!

I hope you prove me wrong, but I think the only REAL solution is to get 50,000 klms on your car as fast as possible and then get someone who really knows what they're doing to fix it and Ford will pay for it under warranty.

I had the diff replaced in My BAGT & thought fantastic.... she's fixed
This lasted for about a week.
I hope its differant for you , keep us informed.

How does this work? What difference does the 50 000km make? Can you take it somewhere else (ie, not a ford dealter but specialist) in the beginning?

It's been this way since God was a corporal. My series 1 AU clunked all day and night and they told me the same thing then. It works like this, up till 50,000 klms Ford HAVE to fix it in house no matter how much you want to take it to a diff specialist. The dealer's hands are tied. After 50,000 klm, and assuming it is still under warranty, you can take it yourself to a diff specialist, get it repaired and Ford will pay for it. I've had 3 service managers tell me this so I'm assuming it's true.

If you take it to a diff shop pre 50K, you will have to pay. I know my diff has a slight backlash problem but at this stage I can live with it and consider it a "feature". Come 50k though, I will be camped outside a diff shop the night before so I'm the first one in the door.

Thanks for the feedback, it's good to know about the 50k thing as if the problem came back I was going to pay for it to be done myself but if thats the case I'll just wait too.
