The FPV Performance Driving Course held at Calder on the 24th Sept was an awesome sight seeing some 21GT's lined up before the 9.00am drivers briefing lasting till 9.30am,for the first session the GT's were divided into 3 groups of 7 each which consisted of one group doing ABS Braking' the second group doing Controlling the car around a bend with the Traction Control features and sliding and getting used to the characteristic's of the beast and the third group did the Slalom driving, the three groups then rotated till they all did the three sessions.
Then it was for lunch all provided and a break for 1 hr.The afternoon session were divided into two groups one doing the race circuit for about an hr and the other group doing the motorkana consisting of a course set up with witches hats and a timed session using the TC both on and off, with the overall winner with the best time winning a $350 voucher for a High Performance Drivers course, and then the groups rotated once again.
Conducted by John Bowe Institute of Driving, all the Drivers gained valuable experience in respect of the driving and handling abilities, Performance and safety features that these GT's have to offer. I was most impressed with the professionalism of all the instructors and confidence that we gained as a result. I really got to appreciate what great vehicles these GT's are and came away smiling.
Thanks to David Cuff and his support staff, Ford and FPV for initiating this program.
Cheers John

As far as I know there were a few with exhaust mods, and the other ute had suspension mods, but I assume most were bog stockers - being only 3 or 4 months old.

Well, as it turned out, my times were middle of the road. Some GT's were quicker, some slower.
Also, in some sedans, absence or presence of TC didn't make a big difference. One bloke was 1/10 sec either way!
The ute's biggest downfall in the timed motokana was extra long wheelbase and bigger turning circle. Not to mention a couple of racers in the group.
Of course you and me know Oz, that we do have traction control. It's faster, more precise and produces bigger hard-ons than any computer module. You know what I'm talking about.
So to all those sedan drivers, cut the wires on your TC buttons and turn them into another fog lamp switch.
Who needs TC.
