Has anyone heard any goss on this? Im just assuming that one will be built, although I can understand why they mightn't bother because you could count the number of TL's that where sold with your hand.
I must admit I would be a little dissapointed if it one was not made. It wouldn't even need 290kws, the 260 would be fine im sure...although for bragging rights 290 would be good.
Also what would they call it? Im trying to think of some names of yesteryear (sp?).
My old man had a Marquis that went pretty hard for a barge arse. Most of the names I can think of are a bit old school. What can you guys come up with?

It won't happen. By all means it SHOULD happen, but if the current trend of niche model murder continues, it wouldn't surprise me of the LWB eventually ended up as an I6-only, single variant model.
If they can't put dollars into serious model development *cough* V8 AWD Territory / V8 wagon / luxo wagon *cough*, then I can't see how they could then justify releasing a Boss powered Fairlane. That would be the height of hypocrisy.

How much extra development would a FPV Fairlane take? I wouldn't think that much.
Engine: Check - BOSS 290
Interior: Check - Can be same as GT-P
Suspension: Easy. The BA already has many different settings. Not hard to do one for the Fairlane.
Brakes: Check - BREMBOS!!!
I think basically a FPV Fairlane could be done easily. It just needs a individual look, and its done.

Try that approach for a V8 or Fairmont wagon my friend, and see how far it gets you! To you and me, it should be a doddle... but apparently it is just SO difficult, that they simply give up on concepts like that.

I think there is a market for such a vehicle, after all HSV sells enough Granges to make it worthwhile.
If such a vehicle where to arrive, following the naming series they have used thus far and considering the retro themes used it could be called an FPV GT-A.
The Fairlane GT-A was a sporting model produced in the 1960s in the USA.

I agree that its hardly worthwhile. If you look at the space in the falcons its basicaly huge as it is..
So that just leaves the LWB models for limo's, rich old people who like the big cars and really "big" business people ect.. Very few people in that demographic would want the extra top end power of the Boss V8's.. For the occasional person who wants a sports limo theres the G220..
Basicaly it would be a waste of money to make a FPV fairlane at this stage.
The current line up is pretty good.. Id love to see an enhanced XR6T though. Maybe an XR6T sprint or something with extra power, tremec 5 or 6speed box, brembo's, lightweight bonet and front panels, even lower sports suspension and a sports exhuast..
It makes no sense right now as the XR6T already has a huge waiting list. It would be good though to have it ready to go about the time holden comes out with the commodore with a modern 6 :)
