guys i need help with my small engines assignment, as said in the title im comparing the new Monaro against the new GT, if anyone has ever driven both and can make a Honest comparo it would help heaps, personally i think the GT looks, goes and sounds better but any help on 1/4mile times, track lap times Ect... would help heaps because from what i have read on this and other forums i don't belive magazine times.
Ive got all the magazine comparos but they have not got a direct GT v Monaro comparo, they have compared GT-p v HSV GTS but that isn't what i after.

Both cars performed dame good but at the end of the day It's all about what makes ya happy if like the Holden then buy it, but look any way you go you'll be happy with either one.
But just watch out for the oil problem that the GenIII have which you most likey know about already.
My choice was the GT love the car head to toe.
Enjoy.
DABOSS, Where did you get those times for the Monaro form. Cause if they are from Holden then you should be carfeul, because they do all sort s to get the best times like drain the fuel tanks do heaps of burnouts to warm the tyres and all sorts. So unt believe everything that you hear!!

But would that be comparing a 225kW car against a 290kW car? As I know the 14.23 is quite slow for the HSV Monaros which would be running in the mid 13's. Hardly a fair comparison with one car running a substantial power and price deficit.
1) FORD don't do it, they don't ever release performance stats in their sales documents.
2) HOLDEN do release performance figures that only seem to be able to to be duplicated by owners who have adapted their vehicles for racing and have significant experience on tracks.
This is called MARKETING. FORD and HOLDEN have different marketing philosophies. Remeber they each have only one goal.... SELL MORE NEW CARS.
If you look in MOTOR or WHEELS over the past 3 years you will see that on many occasions the test car supplied by HOLDEN not only outperforms the FORD rival but also other HOLDENS tested either earlier or later.
Often you will find that when the same model is tested in a different arena, e.g. BYFB/PCOTY/Shootout, the results seem to vary, sometimes spectacularly.
Look for the SV8 test in MOTOR last year, it is quicker than the Clubsport & R8.
Oh and more importantly the FORD has a much higher door count index.
This can be confirmed easily, if you use the IEEE entry/exit portal standard as a baseline and compare the two vehicles at 25deg C, 1013.2 Hpa on 12:00 UTC and apply the parameters outlined in RFC 2134, RFC 3425 and ISO 992123 you will find that the DCI (door count index) is exactly double. Remember, the higher the DCI the more "Double reverse overhead camshaft intercooled doorhandles" can be fitted.
(This important performance titbit is brought to you by Flappist Industries)

Flappist, can you do the same calculations for my XR8 Ute, I'm not sure where I stand DCI wise. Or is there's a link to a web-based DCI calculator? :fraz:

they all test well motor and wheels claim times i have never heard of Holden claiming times as i dont trust neither ford nor holden when it comes to honest info.
The test driver(s) for MOTOR and WHEELS use there own drivers and only so there is no biased info just the facts.
Just cause (i think it was MOTOR??) ran a 13.94 in a totally stock VY SS doesnt mean everyone could do it.
Hell i would give it a go. but how would a car last with 4000 + rpm dump slips flat changing and absolutly ringing the crap out of there cars.
Anywho im sick of teeney bopper wannabes have a dig everytime the hear the word "HOLDEN" grow up. true car enthusiasts appreciate and respect all makes and models when credit is due. hence why im a member of FF. Not because i come on here to bitch and whinge about Fords now do i.

Yeah sure, like thats why Motor Mag gave the BA Turbo pcoty, test drivers you say. Drunks or sling coppers I say. I bought one of those BA pcoty turbos. I think they must have got the badge's on the boot mixed up. Then I traded the thing on a GT and theres no comparison. I would trust a factory stated time more than the times those clowns seem to record, at least if a factory makes a claim they have to be able to prove it. Too many lunches and airfares and 5 star hotels from the manfacturers for the motoring writers not to be swayed I reckon.
Like i said HSV, Holden, Ford, FPV can quote all they like i dont believe them till i see it myself. Any race car driver can ring the neck out of a test car and pull some wicked time, but.............. can we and for how long.
Thats all im saying im not taking any sides from any camp
ANyone who tries to Deny Holden hasnt used ring in cars is just fooling themselves.bak to when i bought my T3 TE50.. They put it up agasint the 255 kw holden... The T3 made 206 KW at the wheels the fkn commodore made 230 rwkw MORE THEN ITS FKN 300 CALLAWAY GTS ROFL. I put mine on the dyno and it made 207 rwkw.. i got them to show me ALL OF THE dyno figures they had on the 255 commos and the highest was 204 RWKW...what a joke
EVEN the mags where like WTF bit hard to run a comparison with mags when they manufactures do shit like that...
But bak to the topic @ hand..Ive just bought a GT-P but ive driven a GT and a Monaro......Sorry i didnt like monaro much didnt feel as good on the road or as confident...But i am biassed .. Well who wouldnt be ITS A GT!!!!

cant say ive driven a monaro, (and wouldnt if i got payed), but i think that the monaro has NOTHING on a GT from what the magazene reviews say.
