This is sort of a spin off thread from the LWB thread.
But does any one think that there should be a factory built stretch limo by Ford or FPV.
I was thinking that this could be the FPV version of the LTD or Fairlane. Maybe marketed at government or rich businessmen.
I'm not from the city (and i dont go there much) so i don't really know how a car like that would suit australia, but it wouldn't have much market competition would it?
just another thought, good idea about the factory built limo, but there would be a lot of opposition from the people who currently build limos, because it would put them out of a job. On a another note, considering that FPV stands for Ford PERFORMANCE Vehicles, dont you think that a limo is more of a specialist vehicle than a Performance vehicle.
Australia wouldn't have a large enough market for the expense of designing, engineering, marketing etc a stretched limo for it to be viable for a company the size of Ford which is why its best left for the Hilliers etc.
The problem with building any stretch limo, is that most limo companies are very particular about how they want thier limos built, and what features and accesories they have. Most limos are custom built to customers specs.
If you have a look around at a few limos you may notice that very rarely will you find 2 identical in every way.
If ford were to build limos I would gaurantee that they could not keep everyone happy with the one product (stretch limo), unless they did every conversion as a full custom, which would probably be to costly to manufacture.
But on the other hand, if ford would like to supply me a FACTORY BARRA STRETCH to trial I'd be more than happy to oblige!!
