4 weeks ago I removed the weather strip from under the bonnet of my "04" GT and found 4 lots of rust and defective paint work, I went to Etheridge Ford Ringwood to get this fixed, They told me that the marks are were the glue that holds the weather strip on had come off (the weather strip is held on buy plastic clips not glue), so they sent the car off to get a quote done, the guy picked up a few other problems in the paint ON the bonnet and said they would do the whole thing not just underneath.
Etheridge Ford are now saying that it will take up to 4 weeks to get the ok from ford to get it fixed, If they say ok at all !!!!!! I asked if this was covered under the paintwork protection plan that i took out as well as stone chip protection ?? a big fat NO ! the only thing that it covers is damage from 1.bird s**t, 2.tree sap, 3. acid.
They were talking about getting a mobile touch up guy to come and do the bonnet and front quater panels, I told them i want it done right and the car shouldn't of been let out of the factory like this with the 3 defective panels.
I then went around to the panel shop to ask how much it will cost to get done and they wouldn't tell me as it would go agenst the agreement they have with Etheridge ford.
So does eny one know were i can get a BIG bucket of acid !!!!!

Hmm maybe you can ask the guy that threw acid down the side of my AU, im sure he will be happy to oblige!
The whole "if they say ok" thing is bullsh*t! Its a brand new car, defective paint and workmanship, there should be no question at all whether they will fix it for you!
perhaps having a whinge to FPV could be an option if you dont get any action from the dealer? surely theyd have some sort of quality assurance program.
My cousin is a contract spray painter in sydney and fixes ford stuff ups, he says he is always fixing up paint defects especially on white AU falcons in the engine bay where it rusts in the seams. I cant see why they are making such a big deal about your car.

Hey Shane,
i got the paint protection on mine aswell, i think it may be a load of sh!t.
the water was beading nicely for the first month when it was washed, and now it is like it doesn't have any polish on it at all. I have been using that special carwash crap that they gave me, but i haven't put the "renewer" on it yet.
That spunky chick who sold the package said you should only put it on every six months

Wow, thats the exact same thing that happened with my EF XR6 right down to the spunky chick selling it!
After about 6 weeks I took mine back to have it redone & it looked ok again for another month or so then it went so dull it looked like I had been polishing it with wet & dry.
When I bought my last car I cut them off before they could even get "paint protection" out.
Results may vary, but my experience wasn't a good one.

Yeah i was too busy looking at her cleavage and trying to look up her skirt, she could of sold me anything, it was like the Cougar Bourbon ad, i was just a dribbling mess. lol
same issue with mine, over a dozen paint defects and the more you look the more you find. the first i picked up as i was taking delivery of the car. Had to get it assessed by the dealers pain and panel division and then again by a specialist guy that Ford fly around the country doing just that. He took some digital photos and the car is to go back to see if it can be rectified.. they will try blocking back some sections first, but looks like at least 3 panels will need to be resprayed and I have serious doubts about the colour matching when it happens.... I had the same question too, 'how did the car pass QC?'...
Went back to them today and was very close to telling them to forget the respray and i'll get it done myself, as the markes under the bonnet are my main concern, you can see the rust in the metal already and the white under coat, There are the same marks on the other side of the bonnet aswell. I asked the same question to the manager, "if this was yours you would want it fixed ?????? It shouldn't of gotten past Q.C. like that ????"
