Interesting. Seems from the increments the ute makes the 100km/h before a change to 3rd, and as per the sedan needs a 3-4 change JUST before the 400m. The text says that launching the ute is very hard given the torque so maybe some practice is needed for best times.

Overall an average write up but I'll raise a question about the FPV starting feature in another thread.

(Only a few days away from getting my butt in the seat of 006!!!

I think the "live rear end" is the ute's biggest problem when getting off the mark. An SS ute and sedan launch about the same, but in the GT and Pursuit's case it's always going to go the sedans way.

Not necessarily so. I have heard the LSUG equipped ute has no axle tramp which makes a smooth low% slip takeoff possible. No jackhammer effects.....

Agreed...But i''ve seen a VX sedan tramp at the draggs so I don't think that has much to do with it as it can happen to both rear ends. I've seen it quite abit on IRS commodores actually now I think about it.
December 97 "wheels" mag. EL2 XR8, lighter, more powerful than the VT SS sedan. SS beat it in the quarter...why? IRS!!!

GT and GT-P auto/manual have a 3.45:1
Pursuit auto 3.45:1
Pursuit manual 3.23:1

Interesting to note that if you order an XR8 ute the 3.23:1 is standard but 3.45:1 is an option - guess what I'd option on that one!!!! Would have liked 3.45 on my Pursuit.

I get to drive the FPVs and XRs ,

just yesterday I took the XR6 turbo manual and last year the 250 Pursuit,

last week the Pusuit 290 ,

earlier the XR8 manual sedan and ute,

Both Pursuits left lasting impressions more than the other models they are weapons for sure ,

waiting for GT and GTP next !

Intresting the Pursuit weighs more than the GT

They all need weight to be reduced and Ford are working on that.

Easiest way to reduce weight on your Pursuit is ditch the hardcover. Weighs heaps!

Another thing that could be fairly easy is the plastic tray liner. Surely that much plastic weighs a good couple hundred kegs as well.

Wonder of it would be legal?
