I have just finished my third "fuel usage trial".
The trial consisted of:
1) Reset the trip meter when i fill up.
2) drive around
3) read trip meter and divide litres by kms then multiply by 100.

second trial 11.85
third trial 12.28

The fuel used was Ultimate and the driveing was a mix of city and highway.

Thats excellent economy!

l have found the trip computer on our XR6T over estimates consumption by around 0.5lt/100 from several manual checks. Even taking that into account, l would struggle to match your figures and thats with 150kg and 50kw less.

Cant wait to get my hands on our GT, roll on August!

Thats EXTREMELY good for a V8!! i'm getting on average 12.1/100 around town from my manual N/A BA XR6. Did about 250k's country driving this weekend and its dropped to 11.7 and in all cases, not driving with a heavy or light foot.

BTW - thats trip computer figures.

A) still running it in
B) doing fuel milage experiments.
C) have a brick stuck underneath the go pedal

My average is anywhere from 21 to 24L/100.

It has 7900km on it now so it is fairly run in. The fuel runs are just normal driving, bit of highway, bit of city (mostly peak hour).
Please note, I have 7900 km on a car that is 6 and a bit weeks old.

If you are getting getting 24l/100 then maybe:
A) you are playing 2f2f at the lights a lot
B) have a brick stuck ON TOP of the go pedal
C) haven't read the section in the owners manual that describes the operation of the shiny silver lever between the front seats.

Remember the yellow sticker on windshield when you got the car. It said 13l/100km. The one on a GTS says 17l/100km. I don't think Ford could put a 13 sticker on a 21 car.

Last saturday I drove from Hervey Bay to Benaraby Raceway (280km), Spent the afternoon playing on the strip, drove home on a tank + 20l and I had about 120km left in it by the computer when I got home.

I did 610 ks using 59 litres in the Pursuit from other side of Sydney to Albury sitting at 110..115 consistantly which in old terms is aprox 29 MPG! Show me Any Gen111 HSV that'll achieve that!

Put a chip or similar in (with some mod's) and change the AFR and you will get better economy,this goes the same with the Gen III,the millage you can get out off the v8's these day's is great,one off my mate's get's much better economy out off his Gen III from a Unichip as do I.

6 weeks old with 7900k and mostly peak hour .
I think Qld peak hour must be a little different to Vic peak hour , or your city driving entails alot of freeways . The best I have acheived is 14 to 15 L/100 ( total city driving ) , but it was shit boring and no fun .
My mate has the sedan version of the XR8 , and he , like me , is not able to get below 14.5 in city driving . His worst is around 20L/100.
Go figure .

By the way , the XR8 had a 12.5L sticker on it , and no , I rarely drag people from the lights. My right foot is obviously heavier than yours.

Ok, slight confusion, the city driving is peak hour, the highway is just "pass yet another bloody caravan from (guess where)" and the fuel tests were about 50/50.
Most of my normal driving is Highway hence the now 8000km in 6 weeks. In total city driving I also get crap economy.

I do have fun however.... I KNOW this car does 14s, cuts out at about 255 on the speedo and can go from 100 to 160 in 2 semi trailers and will sit in one spot and spin in both 1st and 2nd with the traction control off.
(Tested in controlled conditions on a closed road, Professional drivers used, in another country, definitly not in QLD where there are hoon laws)
I use Ultimate almost exclusively with only about 3 tanks of Optimax. Maybe that helps the economy a bit.

S**T you blokes get better economy than my NA XR6, am getting consistently 14.3-14.4 in mostly around town (city) driving with some freeway thrown in. This doesn't sound too good for my car.
