Gt Oil Problem

Ford have said that there is a problem with the GT using more then normal amount of oil when running in the motor.

They listed that 20% of all Boss 290 motor's have been reported to have been affected.

They have but the Problem to a small batch of faulty piston rings, Sounds very familer ( HOLDEN ).

But as yet there and always they cant confirm extact numbers, Nor can they confirm any rebuilds as yet.

Fcuk that once I get mine if there's even a little oil problem and starts using too much like some of the guys on the forum have reported, I'd let the fcuking shit burn untill theres no oil left.

Thinking might cancel order.

Re: Gt Oil Problem

Yeah but at least they have admitted fault and are working to rectify the problem right away instead of covering it up...

Here`s the official line from the Herald Sun:

THE five-star Falcon GT has just run into its first roadblock: engine trouble.

The born-again Ford muscle car is suffering from oil-consumption problems, with reports of up to 20 per cent of cars affected by the drama during running-in.
A small batch of faulty piston rings is to blame.

Ford Performance Vehicles is investigating the trouble and working on a solution for customers. It refuses to confirm the number of V8 engines involved or rumours of early engine rebuilds.

"We have had only a handful of reported cases," FPV communications manager Andrew MacLean says.

"We have rectified the problem in production and we are, at the moment, gathering the data to work out how many engines might be affected. We are deciding the best way to service our customers."

FPV says it has no reports of engine failures, but admits the oil problem could be significant if owners don't keep an eye on their oil level.

"The worst-case scenario, if they don't check their oil levels, is significant damage to the engine," MacLean says.

Re: Gt Oil Problem

Mine, GTP0066 used 2l of oil up to 7000km, has now 13000km none used since.
My friends, GTP0054, used 1.5l up to 4000km, none since.
Please note that both of us changed oil types at the mentioned kms, me to Mobil 5w-30 syn and him to Shell helix.

And DABOSS, don't cancel mate, these cars are AWSOME.

Re: Gt Oil Problem

My XR8 ute has used about 250ml in 2000 ks'. Checked with my dealer and he said it is nothing to worry about. Getting the oil changed to full synthetic next week.
