I took my GT in for its 3000k service today and I was told that some of the GTs (mine included) have had software issues. Apparently the system wasn't recognising the engine as being a 290, rather it was recognising it as a "basic" XR8 and as such the power output was down. They've re-set it so it should be ok now. Is this true or am I just being fed a line? Has anyone else heard about this?

What Build No is it, And if in doubt dyno it if it's 290 it should give between 205rwk - 225rwk average is about the 215rwk mark.

if this is true, that would mean the 260kw engine should be able to use the software from the 290kw engine...now who,s going to do it???
Interesting idea. Stuff like this happens with pc parts. A simple bios flash can make a video card function like one worth a lot more. Wonder if this is possible with the Boss engines?...

I reckon its a load of BS, they're just feding you a line to make you focus more on something you didnt know vefore rather than maybe some other problems that there are.
Either that or they're making it sound like they did something when they in fact didnt do anything at all.
If like they say was only functioning as a 260, you would definately notice that, no question.
and IF, and i mean IF, it was as they say, it would have to have been an actuall 260 ECU in it. They are not set to 'recognise' anything, they are programmed to run an engine to their specs, thats it.

The dealer is pulling your leg.
Its amazing what the mind can make you feel, if you are told something.
Mine was reflashed with an updated program. You can normally tell by handwritten notes on the ECU housing and barcode.
