OK, with the soon to be released MKII FPV's with new 6spd gearboxes/ratios etc, who here thinks the GT will now have what it takes to regain the performance mantle in the Ford lineup??
Or
Will the new IL6 Turbo Typhoon leave them behind??
I guess seeing the thread Gadgetman posted regarding his drive in the new XR8, it's almost sounding promising that the BOSS powered cars are going to finally show what they're made of thanks to the better gearbox set.
Should be a hard one....i'de say that a typhoon may be the easier of the 2 to get a good time on the quarter, but to a decent steerer the GT will be slightly faster. We've seen Jeff get a 13.6 with just a cai in his XR8, no XR6 turbo with just CAI would get that......
On a racetrack it may be reversed due to the lighter weight of the F6 though

I personaly think the F6 will or should be quicker than the GT, that 550nm of torque developed at 2000rpm, and 270kw of power, being in a lighter car than the GT should make it quicker in a straight line, not to mention in the corners.
I'd be guessing line-ball ......for now. Theres still a kw advantage for the GT despite a weight and torque deficit, but both will be running the 6 spd (although final drive may vary). Who's to stay the GT will stay at 290kw in the future?
The 6T zealots have built up the Typhoon legend to such extreme fanatacism that if it isn't substantually superior to the MK2 GT they will probably commit Jihad against the infidel FPV oppressors.
There has never been a Ford before that has such an image to live up to.
Of course it still won't be as good as a TE50 T3 because that isn't possible is it?

Here is wisdom.
Let him that hath understanding count the number of the BEAST:
for it is the number of a F6 Typhoon; and its number is 0217.
As they come from the factory, the Typhoon will blast home, which is very hard and sad for me to say as I feel personally the GT is not living up to it's name.

My money is on the Typhoon - less weight, much broader power band, flatter and greater torque curve, and it will probably get shorter gearing.
