Hi all,
my XR8 has 2300 k's on it and i was just wondering how many k's should be done before it ever see's a drag strip?

I suppose mine saw over 10,000 but that was due to circumstance not a deliberate action. Take it once you feel comfortable that the car is loose enough. I would probably wait until after the 3000 service ( and get the oil changed then too ) and then go for it.

My Au2 XR8 had 500 odd ks on it before it saw the Skid Pan at Deca

4 hours of thrashing, figure 8s set it up nicely for the 35,000ks of life

As 'Laminge' said, 500k's is plenty for any engine.
Very long run-in distances are simply not needed, and in many cases will cause more harm than good.

I'll back that up as I had around 500klms on my AUII XR8 when I took it out to Queensland Raceway and it's been smooth sailing since.

Wait after your 1st service after you dump the oil then i would race it.I took my GT out when it had around the 4000 mark.

Very good question ozzy as i was wondering the same thing myself. We may not get the times we want at such low kms but its not going to hurt giving it a go..is it??
