Went to get a price on some mods for the ute today and was told that, the clutches fitted on later model BA's are different from earlier models. They reckon they wont fit underdrive pulleys to later model falcons because the newer clutches had a tendancy to push back up at high speeds.
I was just wondering if anyone was aware of this or if its just a one off problem??
Absolutely not true. My GTP was one of the first released and suffered the same fate. The upgrade by FPV is for the Friction plate only not the pressure plate where the fault is from, Also the later model have a different clutch pedal bracket for a better height.
I Have done a lot of research in this area for the race car.

Since I have fitted the underdrive pullies i have noticed at high speed when i flog the car the pedal pushes up but soon i will have and exedy clutch with billet flywheel, 3600pound pressure plate and 6 padal ceramic soft button clutch...............this will solve the problem

That will fix it RACEGT I got the same problems with mine Nov03 build. The only way to fix the prob is by throwing anything FACTORY to do with the clutch in the bin. Once you start making over 310kw or so then your gonna get the slip. BOSSGT also found it boiled the clutch fluid in his car
The new setup your getting will put rest to any potential probs. Quite a few car are guilty of this it isn't isolated to a minority

I thought id bring this thread back up as there have been a few questions surrounding the underdrive pulleys and i think the clutch is one of things you have to consider when doing this mod.
The thing i want to know is, will the clutch definatley need to be done if doing the underdrives or is there a greater chance that you could do them and not do the clutch at all??
Hmmmmmmm, interesting problem, I've run 13.567@105.15mph at ESID at sep meet on street tyres, didnt notice any clutch problems then, have since change diff ratio & had Unichip fitted with associated increase in performance & have not had any clutch problems on the street (yet to get back to ESID). Mine is a dec 02 build so perhaps it is a lottery as to who has clutch troubles?????
BA330
how does the car launch now with the new diff ratio's?
what ratio did you go to ?
does it spin up easier than before?
have you noticed any difference in driveability around town?
