It's Official - Holden to rip off buyers yet again....

The new Gen IV engine has push rods.

Seems the selling point of HSV getting the new engines before any other subsiduary is con.

GM are supplying push rod fed, oil chewing, leftovers to the Aussie market again...

I thought the new engines were new technology. According to:

http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/porta...opDefault.aspx

The Gen IV is an overbored Gen III.

Well, well, well. At least the GT Falcon is aussie bred! And I'm proud of it!!

Yawn, boring!

What's with the inferiority complex?

If I were you I'd be celebrating the BOSS edit phenomenom to the rafters.

Take care!

Err, what exactly did they rush considering GM also wanted the LS2 for its GTO, which BTW, is also our Monaro (in case you've been hiding under a rock, like your pal)?

Why wouldn't HSV also take the opportunity to slot it into their products?

Re: It's Official - Holden to rip off buyers yet again....

I see no issues with OHV engines and the LS1/LS2 is a fine piece of engineering. Sometimes the simpler option works best. The LS1/2 is light, compact, and goes like a scalded cat. Plus the architecture is a good base for Displacement On Demand (DOD) and other great pieces of engineering.

Sure the Boss engine is also a great piece of gear with its quad cams but it's also heavy.

I think our local market proves that as far as engineering goes, two totally disparate approaches have led to two great solutions to what we want - high performance V8s.

If you rubbish the LS1/2 it must mean you haven't driven a good one such as a 285 or above. They're even starting to sound half alright - although not as good as a Boss 290 over 3600rpm!

Oh jesus ssbaby saw the thread.

Can't we all just agree that OHC gives more power and torque at the expense of size, weight, complexity and cost ? And of course OHV the opposite.

Totally agree with you there AP. I just took my mates ls1 for a wrap to compare a few things to mine and i hate to say it but it scared me a bit, it did have 3.7's and a few other things mine doesnt have yet so it was hard to compare but one thing is for sure its one quick ute.

Re: It's Official - Holden to rip off buyers yet again....

The LS1 is allready a peice of work, respond's well to mod's etc, therefore I see the LS2 with a larger displacement as a threat, and those that can it are in denial, apart from the LS1's teething problem's it has proven to be a very powerfull engine, so let's see what the LS2 can do.
