Launch Technique

I was wondering what technique most used to get the best out of their GT/GT-P?
I took my big bus down the quarter on Saturday...
2.273 60 foot 14.44 @159km/h - bounced off limiter before each change
2.276 60 foot 14.37 @163km/h - not enough revs on take-off
2.443 60 foot 14.64 @163km/h - went to sleep on start line
2.256 60 foot 14.14 @156km/h - was racing and backed off, but still broke out on a 14.4 dial in.

The last run I held it on the handbrake, dialled up 3000 rpm then let out the clutch pretty quick, but didn't dump it. She axle tramped a bit, but took off the quickest.

I was disappointed not to hit a 13, you can feel how heavy these things are when taking off. I have an EL XR8 (standard) that hit 14.9 easily, time after time, with 1.9 second 60 foot times.

How does everyone else leave the line - technique wise?

This would seem to be the best way that i have found to get the car moving.I think some of the tuners are working on a launch limiter that can be tuned in with the new SCT software.Basically set the car up so it will only rev up to a specified RPM on the line before the car is at say 2 mph, then once it reaches the predetermined mph all the HP is on tap.

It is no easy task to get them movin.

And you didn't get any wheelspin ?
3000 rpm is pretty high.
On my first drag meet I took of with 1500 rpm dialed up and had soo much wheelspin that my mate in his magna beat me by 0.04sec, and mines an auto, I would have thought that in a manual you would get more traction problems with higher rpm launches.

Re: Launch Technique

A friend has been to the strip once in his stock BAGT.He ran a best of 13.5@104mph & a worst of 14.3@102mph (the other two runs were 13.7's).The car is a manual & he did not use many revs off the line on his first run (the 13.5).

Re: Launch Technique

I've tried pretty much every technique and hav'nt yet got a perfect pass down. I either wheelspin too much or bog it, i know it just takes practise and i just gotta find that medium.
