John,

There is a poll showing 25% of owners arent happy with their FPV's. That doesnt sound to me like "minor bugs that get fixed"

Cheers

Re: List your faults without emotion or exaggeration

Please, it would be really great to get honest factual details without arguing again, can we still try to list fuel economy as per trip computer display, Silver GT you say " still using oil at 15,000k's" could you indicate how much please, eg 500ml/1000k's, and if a car has "scratches on the console" "scratches in the door" "oil stain on seat" was this at delivery? or after servicing? Trying to determine which faults are ex factory.

Cheers Rob

Re: List your faults without emotion or exaggeration

Pretty short fault/defect list for my March 2003 XR8

1. Imperfection in metal look trim around auto stick.

2. slight ticking noise when a/c fan is on lowest speeds. (dont think its a leaf)

3. Console lid is noisy and feels cheap & flimsy.

4. Occasional goddam rattle from somewhere behind the back seat. (I'll find the bastard.)

5. sometimes gives the well documented ticks & clicks from steering at parking speeeds.

6. Adhesive on the emergency fuel filler release is crap and has failed just like it did on the EL.

7. Needs another 10-20 seconds delay on that goddam belt chime.

At 30,000 odd not much to complain about, the interior layout is better than the EL but I think the plastics used is a cheaper quality than the EL.

Brakes have not been a problem. Surprising after owning and driving hard a lot of Falcons/Fairlanes. If/when they do occur I know what will fix them, no biggie and they are pulling up 1300Kgs.

260 Boss engine is sweet as with no hint of excessive oil consumption. Trans is fine and strong but not as smooth as it was with the windsor but then there are a few more ponies to deal with and its eons better than VY autos.

Fuel consumption in mostly Sydney peak hour jams is 14.8 - 15.1 consistantly no complaints there and just the tinyest whisker better than the EL. Touring consumption usually averages around the 12 the windsor could do better but it never had the V8 Boss note.

Ford should loose the 15,000 handbook intervals, 10,000 is more appropriate for any of the performance models and retain 15,000 only for fleeters, povvos and taxis, where $$$ is everything.

Yep I'm happy! Got one of the many problem free ones.
