Couldn't help noticing how many modified FPV BA GT , GTP's that people are talking about on the forum.

Interesting to see how people are spending mega - bucks on restoring old GT's to original factory spec and how many people are spending mega bucks turning their new GT's into street machine specials.

Got me buggered ,

I thought people bought these cars for their perceived historic value.
I must admit , I've modified my ESP but then again I didn't shell out 60 K plus for it.

I wonder how the future aftermarket will treat these modified GT's.
New Chip , exhaust , suspension , extractors , etc etc

Will this de value them or make them more appealing.
I reckon I might start collecting some BA GT bits.

Any Thoughts ?????

I have modified my GT,but also I am keeping all the original bits.So have the best of both worlds.Power now and the ability to convert back to standard later on.

As far as resale value goes I would'nt buy a secondhand GT that has had a lot of mods. Cars that have been modified to the max would have "flogged" written all over it, in my opinion.

I think the question here is
"are the newer GT's going to be worth the same as the older GT's in the future"in my mind I dont think they ever will, but who know's.

At the moment a lot of people seem to be lusting after a new BA GT, which is fair enough. However, when the GTHO finally gets here, the BA GT will no longer be on the top of the performance Ford tree and will be yesterdays news and no longer have quite the shine it once had. Owners of XR8's (particuarly pre BA) owners already know that feeling thanks to the new GT. Once upon a time the XR8 was king of the Ford V8's.
