My Battery is going flat on my GT - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hi all hoping you guys can help.Have owned my GT for over a year(love it),but I have 1 problem.
This is happened to me 3 times now,I will go to start it and the Battery is flat!
Trouble is its about 3 months in between each time.
My local Ford dealer has dried and sealed a plug behind the left headlight.This aparantely can get water in and turn a heater fan on ,draining the battery.But it has happened again!
Have you guys experienced a similar problem?

Won't the battery have a constant drain on it over the 3 months? Clock, Alarm, memory settings on the computer???

Have you thought about installing a trickle charge??

Na, I use it every week.It not like its sitting idle for months on end.Just randomly going flat when it feels like it.

my car kept doing that as well, take it to an auto electriction theres either a constant drain on the car, eg light going on or the batter could have a bad compatment which caused the whole battery to drain...
New battery would fix it, just get them to check for leakages (battery fluid and current leakages)

Any competent auto electrician can by use of a meter tell you in ten minutes if there is a constant draw. Even a draw of half an amp will drain if left idle for a while.
So I must ask if auto electricians can do this what's Fords problem or don't they want to acknowledge the problem in case they find because then they would have to fix it..Sorry for the negativity, keep on to them there is obviously a problem with either your battery or electrics so tell the service manager that you want it sorted.

hi noel is the battery the right amperage,i bought my gtp used 3 monthes ago it had 5000kms on the clock.my battery went flat ,i took it to local ford dealer who found it was wrong size 425 amp instead of 520 amp.i rang fpv who arranged replacement on the spot.it might be worth a check just in case.

Apparently the batteries FPV put in are not a real good quality battery (that was from my dealer) as mine went flat with the CD player running for about 3 hours while I was detailing the 'fox'. Push started her (love them manuals :) and have'nt had a problem since.
