well i droped off my slim line pates today to my dealer, and because the plates are only four letters,the width is too short, from where they place the holes at the factory, so before i get into my car its off to the pannel beaters to block up the holes and respray the number plate section.

Not sure about over your way, but up here in Qld you can get "plate" stickers for the front of your vehicle.

had the same problem on the back of my AU
ended up changing my order by adding an extra number to the plate to make it longer, the big black lug things that the screws screw into woulda been showing otherwise
you have to ask why they are putting the holes right out on the edges even on new model cars thesedays with all the different shaped number plates available!

i've got slim line plates on the back of my au2 xr8 .. and there is 4 platic hole thingy's (yes, technical term), the 2 bottom ones aint being used..

HOWEVER i have seen that series 3 rear bootlids do not have the 4 holes.. only the two.. but with the spacing problem you could make a plate behind it? chequed plating (i know its ugly, some peoiple like it)

In Vic you can order a slim line front plate, and a regular size rear plate, which is what I plan to do when I get personalised plates.

hmm slim line here in QLD is the same width as standard just a height diffrence and you dont get lettering on the bottom (if applicable) and for rears you only have a choice of standard or USA plate, as slimline is not legal for use on the rear of a vehicle in QLD.
