 Just wondered if anybody has had any experience with the number plate spray that flashes out speed and red light camera flashes. I had a reflector plate, but got nabbed by the HWP because they could see the thing. Had a radar detector, they are still legal in WA but useless against hand held radar. Anyway before I put my faith in a reflector spray, any info. I'm not into excessive speeding or dangerous driving, but I'm also not into lining the Govt coffers because I went 6 - 10 ks over their decided speed limit. :AAHHH:
I've got a Uniden Radar dectector 360 Laser SST Supewideband got it from the good old US of A had it for about 8 years and never been detected yet and has definately saved me a few times.
Cheers John
I now someone, who knows someone, who has a photographers slave flash unit mounted on the rear of his motorcycle. When the speed camera flashes, the slave flash picks-up the flash and flashes back (speed of light), all the speed camera photographs is a very, very bright light. The slave flash unit sits above/below the number plate/s.
I am led to believe he told someone, who told someone it works quite well with flash speed cameras...
:edit:
Lo and behold in todays Western Australian there is a story interviewing te importer of the plate spray and the Police.
The police said they were not seeking a ban because they had tested it but it didn't work, then in the next breath said it would be irresponsible for the public to use the spray.
The importer said that at least 3 good coverings were required to saturate the number plate.
The media, being how they are, decided to run there own test according to the importers instructions.
Result, a colour photo on page 5 WITH THE FIRST AND SECOND NUMBERS BARELY LEGIBLE AND THE OTHER SIX COMPLETELY BLOCKED OUT.
IT WORKS .........IT WORKS............IT WORKS.................. :wnc:
About a month ago I typed "Number Plate Spray" into the Google search engine and came up with a WA site that sold the stuff. I think it cost me $60 delivered the next day by courier, It is called Photo Blocker and comes in a spray can. I put 3 thick coats on the GT and on my better halves Zetec. I know I have been flashed twice and she has at least once (just 8-10 klm over) and nothing has arrived in the mail. The legal thing is that its a Lacquer not a paint, and there is nothing in the transport acts that bans the use of clear lacquer on number plates.
Irresponsible or not, I think it pales in comparison to the financial hardship forced upon less fortunate struggling families and individuals because cash strapped governments have no social financial conscience.
If it works then what a great idea, especially if it cant be seen by applying Lacquer on the number plate and thus not giving the Government any revenue.Bring it on.
Cheers John
Peoples,
Here's the link to this stuff, although most of you should be OK on the highway because the speed limits are typically 100-110 kph.........lol.
I heard the head honcho of the TOG on 3AW (Neil Mitchell's program) the other morning yapping about this, How they'd bought the stuff & conducted their own tests. "ALL fruitless... It doesn't make one bit of difference" He said. When pushed by Mitchell, he said "Ok, possibly from certain angles"... Then Stressed the illegality & the implications of tampering or obscuring No. plates! I mean the man's NOT gunna tell us . "YES It works"?? Reading between the lines, plus the guys tone... I think there is definately something in this?... Just wait for changed legislation, & the shutting down of the product!!!... Big brother will strike again!
I heard the same charlie, one guy rang up and said his mate sells it and it's the same stuff as hairspray. Maybe we can get all our missus' together and order a bulk purchase of Sunsilk Hairspray?
I once heard about the lacquer aswell, so on my work vehicle I sprayed some lacquer on the rear plate's and I swear a few time's I was speeding when going past a speed camera, and nothing as yet.

Isnt it illegal to have anything on the numberplate? Whether it be paint, laquer, or just a plastic cover?
Ive heard about the hairspray one, how you just put normal hairspray on and it works.
Whats with the IR speed cameras? Doesnt it work with them?
