Those of you researching how you want to buy a Barra, I have a question.

Do you think some of the option pricing seems a bit high?

I'll use an example. Looking at the T3 series, optioning Brembos was around $5000. That wouldn't be so bad except that $5k is above and beyond the $3k for Premium brakes which the car has in the first place. That makes the brakes an $8k option. Wow!

I was looking at speccing up an XR8 assuming a $49500 list price and it quickly got to $60k!

Farout $5k is abit steep especially when factoring the extra 3k for the premium brakes. Gee a $60K XR8 is basically a T3 TE-50 price. I won't how much a GT would kickoff at price wise.

My XLS ute is becoming a bit steep also:

- XLS Styleside V8 with Sequential Auto $35,300
- Air Conditioning $2250
- ABS $930
- Cruise control $460
- Hard tonneau cover $1695
- LSD $400 ?
- Any other options ?
- Dealer costs ?

It all adds up. Less expensive for me to buy an XR6T Ute. Insureance is more on a turbo and I want a V8 so that's not an option. Still it's not cheap.

What about aftermarket brakes... how much would they cost?? Or would they void the warranty??

These are fairly impressive options we are talking about ... not like you are adding a set of seat covers

what about prestige sound? because once youve oredered it your stuck with it.

options do seem to add up quick im looking at $4760.00(w/leather) in options on a xr6 and im not going overboard

auto $920
lsd $360
premium audio $900
towpack $345
prestige paint? $255

leather seats? $1980

a fully optioned xr6 turbo comes to over $60000!

Absolutely right Peteypoos!

Apparently Ford IS giving some credit to the 17" rims on the option price of 18's, as I have been told. It is a shame and a point of contention for me, that other features don't provide any of this "credit" for upgraded options. It's not like the upgrades are "aftermarket", or are causing a financial loss for Ford. In particular, you are right in singling out the brakes - this has always been an unsavoury area.

I guess that realistically, with the BA, these options are the only place where Ford will make any genuine profit in the first 6 months!
