I've had my GT MKII for a bit over a week now and notice a petrol smell in cabin sometimes. Is this normal for a new, not run-in car, or even common on the GT? Do they run really rich? Fuel consumption is around the 16l/100K at the moment without really giving it a hard time.
Once I've worked out a reliable way of making it happen, I'll have the service centre check it out.

No a petrol smell is not normal, I would speak to your dealer ASAP as it is not something to have leaking.
Yes they do run rich I get around 18l/100K, but I do give it a hard time sometimes.

No, I had to option the auto, my other half will not entertain a manual, otherwise, yes, the 6 speed would have been real nice!
Just waiting to see the 750 KM and 1,500 KM milestones go by so I can experience the full volume and accelleration it's capable of.... Even 4,500, 5,000 rpm the note is great!

Good on you Cam, hope you don't smoke . I reckon the petrol smell is a big no no. But apparently they do run real rich when new then begin to lean out, they definately perform better with a few klm's on them. Mines running at about the same consumption as you with all the bolt ons and driven often in a shall we say spirited manner. You must be one of the first. I'm still waiting for the yellow Typhoon to blow into WA WA land, thinking of canning it now and waiting for an 05. Enjoy mate, enjoy
