Hi all. I put The Boss in for the 15000 service the other day and also asked them to fix a rattle coming from under the hood lining around the drivers side of the sunglass holder, anyway the mechanic didn't read the instructions properley and took it for granted that it was the Tremec, arrived to pick up the car and got told the rattle is in the G/Box. I said "No Clowns It's In The Heading" and proceeded to tap in the appropriate place and produce the correct rattle.
Since being told I have noticed that the box does rattle when cold in first and second, sort of sounds like a mild main bearing issue, but if you hold the revs constant and push in the clutch, as soon as the gearbox is dis-engadged the noise stops, clutch out it starts again immediately. The service manager told me FMC were still waiting for a fix and it was a common very prob. Anybody else had similiar issues and if so what was the final outcome, the rattle I can live with for a while, but if its an indication of slow self destruction I would rather nip it in the bud. Ides please fellow fordies

The dreaded rollover noise. The TR3650 is the second biggest culprit for this. If you want to feel good about it, go for a drive in a V6 VT-current commodore. The Getrag in them is atrocious. I would not be too worried about it, it won't be doing any long term damage. More obvious in cars that do not have a perfectly smooth idle, much more noticeable when you have a car or a wall nearby with the window down. Ben.

HI HYPNODOC just replying to your rattle as you might have read my post my box has self destructed.
l think the rattle has a lot do with it as the noise in mine got louder and louder and when l put my foot on the clutch it slowed down and disapeared.
