While I'm waiting for the footrests to be manufactured I put some thoughts into what could be done to tidying up the expanse of cheap looking satin chrone plastic that fills the centre console of the FPV models.
In my view the lack of any contrasting finish was a bit lacking in something.
Here's a pre production, hand cut prototype of a carbon fibre shift quadrant surround - the fit isn't perfect due to the hand preparation but a production model will be tooled and stamped.
It fits over the existing panel, can be installed in 30 seconds with no tools and can be removed later if required.
As long as it’s made properly I can’t see a problem with them, especially if you were able to copy the exact type of carbon fibre look on the glove box.
Maybe a small chrome surround, similar to the T-Series, would finish it off nicely.

the quote above got me thinking and I thought it might be worth explaining what we have done here.
The item shown above is actual carbon Fibre, not an imitation type. As such it will be unique looking and not like the type on gt's and gt-p's. It contains other light reflecting material to give it a deep polished look, as well as give it depth and character.
I am looking into the possibilities of putting it onto the glovebox surround and also where the steering wheel is, but due to the angles of those parts it may not be possible to do. Carbon Fibre has certain limits to its bending capabilities, and is very hard to bend at two different angles at one time.
With some special techniques, we are able to use carbon fibre with other materials to trick the eye into thinking it has been bent at multiple angles without actually having to do so. Thus giving the look we want at a fraction of the cost.
If this seems confusing, I'm sure Russ, Troy and myself will happily confuse ourselves even more trying to exlain it in person.
cheers,
Philbie
