Originally posted by DR XR I think there should be consideration and probly even development of a 6.8 V10 for high performance HOs to be not left behind the 8 ball when HSV show what they can do. As i said in another thread the 6.2 350kw IMO will be available within 12 months no matter what HSV say and 7L will follow. I dont care if its stroked 5.4-5.8 or larger or blown 8 or V10 just so long as we as Ford fans dont have to relive the last few years ever again. I dont think the govt would stop these but if they did they have to stop Holden too they cant just stop us. I hope Fords on the ball in regards to HSVs 6.2 and 7L because theres nothing worst than been left behind untill next model or sometimes much longer 2-3 years.

reality check in aisle 3 please
So how many KW's do we need to reach before the "do gooders" move in?

Mate we understand where you're coming from. Theres no need to fill the forum with quoted posts like what you are doing. Please post responsibly in future.

Sorry, but imported makes such as Ferrari sell powerful cars in tiny numbers, and the do gooders don't object. Admittedly a lot of effort must be put in to ensure handling, etc is up to speed (no pun intended) but no one disputes that. The "Speed Nazis" (Wheels mag term) only seem to pick on local cars. :'(
Personally I don't care what the configuration is either, but it would be nice to build a car to be remembered as historic, like the great Fords of the '70s.

Thats all I am saying....lets rock that HSV boat- an "optional" V10
Ok, taking the supercar scare issue out of the equation for a minute.
Do you really expect Ford to spend millions of dollars that can only end up as a loss, to put a V10 in a falcon to rock the HSV boat. And you you know how impractical the V10 would be? It is very heavy, which instantly does not lend itself to good handling, it's huge, extensive modifications would need to be made to the falcon chassis for it to fit - even more money poured down the drain, and where would this money come from in the first place?
It is IMPRACTICAL to put a V10 in a Falcon, there would be absolutely no point, it wouldn't handle well, it wouldn't stop well, it wouldn't go any better than the 5.4 with some forced induction, which would also handle and stop better than a mutated chassis with a great lump of a V10 in it.
Lets be realistic, what started this V10 crap, was a rumor that several of us got together and started on the forums, as an impossible joke, somewhat surprisingly it made a national motoring magazine, and we have been dealing with people thinking it was a great idea ever since. People wake up and smell the gasoline, it is not going to happen, nor should it happen. There are far better ways for Ford to lead the way against HSV, and we will see these implemented.... have faith in GP & DF they are just as keen to get ford back to the forefront as we are!
I think Ford should have an optional V10 in the GTHO. Too hard to put in? Get the blokes at Tickford to make the engine bay a bit bigger. Do the Morris Mini thing and relocate the battery to the boot as standard, etc etc.
I'll state my personal opinion: TVE stands for Tickford Vehicle Engineering. In my eyes, this means that they take an already good car, and make it better in a multitude of ways. I think that TVE should at least take a good, hard look at using the V10 as an ultra high performance option, perhaps in conjunction with an AWD system.
Sure Ferrari, Porsche, etc etc import small quantities of supercars. However, i'm going to be INCREDIBLY cynical, and state that the Australian Public generally dont care about these cars, mainly because they'll never be able to afford one, and the do-gooders won't kick up a stink about it. I feel its because its only the Really Rich driving them, and if one should happen to kill him/herself in one of these vehicles, then it doesnt matter as much as if it were another person, who would have quite probably had to have scrape every penny to be able to purchase their vehicle of desire.
I can see another Us And Them discussion coming along, but pause to think about this for a minute, and just ask yourself why you dont hear about high performance marques, and the death that they have the potential to contribute to...

Everyone is going on about making engines bigger and better. Personally, i dont give a sh|t if its 5.7, 6, 7, 10000000!!!
At the end of the day its what the engine can put out.
The Porche GT3 in production atm is a 3 litre 6, and iis expected to have close to 300Kw. Now i know that the GT3 will be worth the same as a small country, but this prooves that size doesn't matter!
And the best bit with resticting engine sizes, is they are lighter.
You get two identical cars. same tranny and everything, but with 1 difference.
One has a 4 litre 8 putting out 300Kw.
The other has a 7L 8 @ 300Kw also.
With the difference in wieght, you work out which is quicker, and which one is heavier than a tank!
Thats my two cents..... Argue away
GT3 has 268 kw but is very high revving with about as much torque on offer as a standard 157kw AU Falcon motor.
