Well if providing a balanced point of view to the discussion is being a thought policeman, I think you need to get a better definition of "thought police"

Furthermore can I ask if you are going to be putting YOUR hand in YOUR pocket for a GT??
When you are in a position to do so then we will talk.

Ok then russ, never mind about my ability to buy a GT or not, or whether I should stick to my XF, the burning question is what would your interpretation of the BA GT HO be? I am curious, as im sure others in this thread are.
(and don't you worry about my position in buying a new GT before giving an awnser)

Hmm back to my first post again? I think I already answered the first part of your reply.
As for my opinion - I have posted my view in a number of other threads on similar subjects - if you really have any interest in what I think go and look one up - the little search button at the top will allow you to search by name.
So how many KW's do we need to reach before the "do gooders" move in?
Kw's isnt the issue.... the sort of people that buy a diablo are not the sort to be contesting the traffic light drags.. people that buy local cars ARE. Even in the timy numbers the local 'supercars' sell, they sell far more than the exotics.
There seems to be some misconception that there is reason to this .. there isn't. The Lambourghini(sp) Countach was available shortly after the supercar scare of the 70's... that didn't rate a mention.

If driver's of Italian exotics always drive sensibly, I stand corrected. But it would be difficult to prove that. A balance between cost and sales would be reached by the companies beforehand - might even be outsold by the and undercut price-wise 911 for all we know.
But for what it's worth, I think it's much better to have a purpose designed car with a V10 than a backyard modded car that can be just as fast.

you still dont get it... the sort of person who buys an italian exotic wants it for pose value..most of them will fill their pants if they go over 110. Next time you DO pass one then look at the driver..you will see what I mean.
Of course it would be better if ford engineer a can and pop a V10 in .. but they have to stay in business too and it's not going to sell enough to make it worth their while
As I see it, the 'hoons' would be hard pressed to afford a $200,000 HSV OR a $200,000 Porsche. I bet many GTS300 buyers are in it for the pose value also. The local supercar class is unprecedented, so it is difficult to make any generalisations about the drivers of cars that don't yet exist! However, I wouldn't be surprised if you're right.
The V10 probably would be unprofitable, but I would like to see them build the best, fastest Falcon that they can without losing money.

Personally I will be more than content with a sweet handling, well equipped GT with power and torque numbers in the 300/600 range - and you can keep your stripped specials ... I want all the gadgets and gizmos thanks.
Cheers
