Now that we have time to play with the new GT what do you all think of the location of the starter button. Also the need for some sort of indication that the beast is about to hit the Rev limiter.

The starter button is a good touch, but it prevents the driver from selecting a gear while starting and the engine is stalled. Say you spin the car out (okay I admit the Pursuit is more inclined to this he he he he) and stall. Now you have to use the left hand to crank, and THEN select the gear.

I reckon put the starter button on the RHS of the wheel or on the shifter itself.

Yes I have found out that it does hit the rev limiter very quickly.....yoou are just getting into that rush feeling and the rev limiter hits....damn

It's more natural to start a car with the right hand and thus I'd like the button on the RHS of the steering column.

Not too fussed about the rev limiter indication but it wouldn't hurt to at least use an old fashioned red line which should not incur any additional cost of manufacture.

I spoke to DGROMs at the Eastern creek day and discovered he had suffered from the same problem as me.

It goes like this. We both have autos and we are at the lights and some 4-cyclinder-piece-of-crap is beside us. We give it to it at the green light and the GT is launched off the mark. The engine starts to stall and is giving no more acceleration. A quick look downstairs and, to our embarasement, we are in manual mode. Quick slot throught the gate and keep going.

I feel that some sort of rev limiter warning is required. Or at least marked on the gauge.

PS, I am not sure about DGROMs, but I still won!!!

I still got over the line, but the neck was a little sore from the rev limiter throw back.

Isnt the reason the starter button is there because it mimicks the v8 supercars starter? If so, leave it as it is. Its nice to have little ties like that.

With the tacho, i think it looks nice and clean without a REDline but does need something like a shiftlight with maybe changing from orange to red in the last thousand.
