My mate just bought a TE50 and reckons the manual says you cannot tow with the car.

Is this true? If so, why?

A Bloke I used to work, had a Te50, Lowered & 19" wheels..., and had a 2300kg Hayman Reese Hitch on it, and towed a 2.2 tonne boat...........!
So, It can be done... But at what cost? to the vehicle.
He only had the car 12 months, bought a 4wd to tow it with.
Dont know where it ended up.....or in what condition!

Never heard that one before.

Ford only ever said they would not warrant the T3 vehicle's with a tow bar. It would be fair to say that the torquey nature of the engine was a worry for Tickford with the Diffs (M78) and the "older" spec autos (before the BA series strengthening) not up to the task.

i was told it was ride-height related and was later reviewed to be approved for towing......

although the ride height never changed...............
