Typhoon, A GT Owners Critique

Firstly,

Thanks Rick for allowing me the pleasure of taking your brand new car (375km's) for a spirited run through the Stirling Ranges........woo,hooo!!

I suppose one word sums it all up.......Ohmygod****nawsomlyquick!!!, or to put it simply.......it goes!!

Agree Rick the Wheels writers are blowing figures out of their arse.

These cars are.......quick!!!! sure you get the tad of lag in 1st but get her into 2nd and above 3000rpm and hang on.....torque heaven!!

I would class the torque feeling in this car as "Sophisticated Grunt" as adverse to the GT's "Brute Grunt". It does'nt force you back in your seat with the neck breaking snap, but more like a gentle but firm push in the chest.

The gearbox is nice, had to think a bit through the twisty bits to remember what gear I was in, did most of the driving in 4th, 3rd and occasionally 5th. 4th gear was great, keep the revs up and she just.......goes, torque all the way. Only critisism was the gate between 4th and 6th is very narrow.......know what I mean, but with a few days of familiarity and that problem would be gone.

Handling was pretty good, a tad light in the front, then having driven this stretch of road in the fox her heavier front end feels more 'solid' and noticably absent in the F6. But she stuck like shit to a blanket no problem, and the power out of the corners was nice.....torque.

Sadly she will never sound like GT but with a good system from Don she will sound heaps better.

All in all one fun, fast car to drive and I had a ball, personal preference lies with the Boss 290 and the 'bulge', but in the perfect world I agree with Simon, would love to own both, maybe a F6 ute and the GT family car!!

And yeah........did I mention the torque????

Re: Typhoon, A GT Owners Critique

Sounds like another stunning machine for Rick and he also mentions no driveline shunt or diff whine, looks like things continue to improve for us blue bloods, looks like the note might be the only thing one might miss. Recently had my drive day at Calder and lets just say for the first time I wish I had Brembos, the last 5 laps was the most fun I've ever had in a car. Thanks for the report Al

Re: Typhoon, A GT Owners Critique

Ah now the true natue of the F6 is revealed.
I wonder what effect this will have on GT & GT-P sales.
Has anyone actually seen a Mk2 GT-P on the road?

A possible good consequence of the F6 diluting the V8 sales is that there may be a higher spec V8 created.

Unless, of course. the FPV marketing gurus still believe denial is a river in Africa.

Let him that hath understanding count the number of the BEAST:
for it is the number of a F6 Typhoon; and its number is 0217.

I wanna line the Phoon up at the track.. I dont think docs to confident in actualy tacking it to the track, We get him down there and he looses that worry from the first pass, then he will be hooked :D.. Plus his car will draw a HUGE crowd!

Re: Typhoon, A GT Owners Critique

As long as I'm not working on the night I'll be there Simon, and hopefully so will the 'Doc'.

Re: Typhoon, A GT Owners Critique

Your one lucky man Doc to own 2 of Fords finest, after Al's informative scribe, i would be interested in hearing your thoughts of the two, obviously Al's report would be more fairer as i am assuming his GT isnt quite as modified as your GT/P, but nonetheless, waiting for your thoughts Doc.
