I'm kinda wondering how much the ambient temperature affects the performance of the Typhoon V the GT.
I've always noticed better performance in my car when the weather is "colder" but now am wondering how stable the Typhoon is under different conditions.
What does it go like when its hot ( weather wise not engine temp )
Is the "turbo" performance compromised when the ambient temp is @ 30+ degrees C.
What's the oil pressure like ???

No doubt the Typhoon will get knocked around somewhat by high ambient temps but the front mount intercooler helps a little. Maybe a water spray unit like the WRX STi's run could also be useful at the drags. GT will be affected as well, but not to the same extent but not sure if that would be enough for it to catch up = maybe @ 45 degrees ambient.
The cooler weather makes the air more dense, hence more oxygen in the cylinder chamber and bigger bang for those who were wondering.

The typhoons compensate for hotter weather by running a bit more boost and a little less ignition, so ambient temps make no differnce- pretty smart eh?

That is pretty clever. Recently in MOTOR, they speed tested the F6 and the Clubbie in very hot weather (40 degrees). Both cars recorded slower than usual times (13.9 for F6 vs 14 for the Clubsport). Both cars are capable of low to mid 13's. MOTOR also tested a Mk2 GT and XR8 in similar hot conditions from memory last year obtaining 13.8 for the GT and 13.9 for the XR8. These times were on par with times obtained in average cooler conditions. All other LS1 and LS2 powered cars recorded slower than normal times suffering from the heat.
MOTOR stated the V8 Fords consistantly performed much better than the turbo and alloy engine cars in the heat. Food for thought.
I do however notice my GT feels more responsive on cooler evenings and i'm sure the F6 would be a hoot!

I have got an XR6T and have noticed it struggles a bit in the heat. Still a great car though.
On the subject of GTs I have just bought a brand new BA mark 2 with a 6 speed manual. I was planning on buying and XR8 this year but the GT was a great deal. Pick it up next week and cant wait. Its my first V8 so I am glad I got something different than an XR8 as in NZ you dont see that many GTs.

Welcome to the GT club!! There's not that many FPV's going around Adeliade either, but plenty XR6's. Must be it due to being Holdens factory home etc.
Sorry to be a little off topic but what made you go from a XR6T to the V8?
Congrats on the new ride there, doc. The Typhoon is a great car!
Interesting comments. I've recently been in a Typhoon. It's got great GO and sounds beaut... but as far as grunt goes, my 270rwkw LS1 would leave it behind ... by a looooong way, I reckon. That's not taking anything away from the Typhoon, it's just that I'm surprised given you had similar power from your old GT, that the Typhoon is so much quicker?
yes i imagine it would, your commy has 270rwkw, thats "rear wheel kilowatts", and the typhoon's power is measured at the flywheel and considering the typhoon is a lot heavier than your commy, and your LS1 has heaps more torque.
The fact of the matter is the typhoon is a great car, you have to compare apples with apples my friend. And yours is a orange
