Before I begin this post I want to make it perfectly clear that I believe the Unichip is a good product and this post is for those owners in WA who are considering getting one. I have had no problems with my APS installed Unichip I think Peter is a top bloke and his tuner is a genius, as are many others around the country.
However for those who may be considering this product the following is list of my experiences with Unichip tuners in WA. I have only hung this post to save others from grief and wasted time, not to have a go at APS because they are a great company.
1. Buy BA XR6 Turbo, have unichip installed by a self appointed performance expert who idea of strapping a car to a dyno is to let the rear tyres down to @ 15 lbs and then do a tune.
Result give car over on friday morn with assurances it will be finished at 4pm, finally get car back 12pm following Tuesday, detonatin g without Octane Booster.
Take car to another dealer 5 times in the course of a week, nothing but limp mode codes and hours being thrashed on a dyno. Finally the tie straps break and the car leaps forward off the dyno and headbutts the fan. Stop at Ford dealer on the way home and out of frustration trade the thing on a GT (good move).
Take GT to APS in Melb (good move) install unichip and drive back to Perth, car runs perfect.
Remove 80mm T/Body, which was on the car when it was APS tuned, and get idle fluctuations. Book car in with another Unichip agent, take a day off work, get up early, drive car to tuner is pissing rain. Car has been booked in for more than a week, No Tuner at workshop No Phone call, no nothing. SPEWING :fly: I would suggest to anybody in WA WA land who wants a Unichip installed JUST DON'T.
Unless you're prepared to drive to Melb you are going to waste a lot of time and money and get much grief. I wouldn't normally hang a post this direct, but I just wasted another $1000 taking a day off work for nothing. The monies not the issue for me, but the wasted time is and god help any poor bugger on a tight budget, you would be driven into insane destitution.
Very very very very Disappointing. Time for you to kick some arses Peter

I was under the belief that Formaz & Tim Slacko's W/shop were Authorised agents, Tim being a real decent guy & his knowledge in Processors tipped me towards a motec.

Mate, you have to commercialise what you do. I specialise in hypnosis and have a retail range of CDs which got a very positive story on A Current Affair in 2001 and are now produced and marketed by SONY.

I know what your saying SVO and Tim is a top bloke, unfortunately Motec isn't Unichip and there is a difference between top blokes and top mechanics, gets a bit silly when you have to drive to Melbourne to get a tune up
