I know there are several previous threads on this subject but rather than thread mine I am starting up a new one. There are now quit a number of FPVs that have had at least 1 new set of tyres.
The beast is almost due for new tyres at 61,000km.
The first set were SP9000s (surprise, surprise) and they lasted about 30,000km. As these were on the car for the FPV day I am quite happy with their longevity.
I replaced them with another set of SP9000s and have had a really good run with them. They have, I would estimate, about 5000 km left before I should replace them.
I priced another set os SP9000s @ $488 ea. fitted.
Has anyone tried different tyres on their FPV and if so are they a better choice.

Bloody cheap for the 9000s. At that price I'd be sticking with them, although I have heard some really good reports about Hancooks & Khumos and was going to investigate when I need my next set as they are about half price. I know that Redhawk has been looking into this issue.

i had Hankook's in the 104 series they were 19's so might be a little different with a 30m wall but didn't impress me at all break traction to easy..
there sold now!
i like the Dunlops.
there is a tech article on 18'' tyres on this site was posted by Russell about 8 months back..
Dunlops seem to be ok to me,can get them for around $480 if you shop around in Melbourne.I've also heard that Yokohama's are supposed to be pretty good.
Cheers John

I have nothing but praise for the Goodyear Eagle F1 DS/G3, they are cheaper and out handle and out brake, wet and dry the Dunlops. They have been in many tests in Europe and always beat the Dunlops and they also wear better about 40k to a set. You should be able to get them for about $400 a tyre. I tried Faulkens in an XR8 and they let go too easy

So the Dunlop still appears overpriced for an underperformer.

I agree with that.
My SP9000's are an okay tyre, but didn't have the grip that I was used too. I have usually in the past, run the German Spec Pirelli P-Zero's which are far better in grip. Two side affects though, they wear very quickly & they track on the road which can be annoying. But the grip on a corner is fantastic. The Goodyear Eagle F1 as DGroms.com quoted have always been a good tyre too.
Cheers.
