Re: What type of Oil do you use ?

I use the Shell Helix Ultra and change at every 7,500 km - it means that every second change is a scheduled service and that fits fine.

Cheers

Re: What type of Oil do you use ?

I chose Shell Helix Ultra as I could get 20L for $130 in comparison to $200 for Mobil One. I use 5w/40 grade and don't need to top it up between services. I do my own services every 10000km. As long as it is synthetic they're all the same I think. Some engines might burn one oil but not another. Just buy what works for you.
Cheers TS 50

Using Castrol Formula R synthetic 0-40W

I wonder if a heavier (5-40W or 5-50W) weight would alter oil consumption?...

Re: What type of Oil do you use ?

I have a BA XR6, and changed the oil at 7,500 km to Pennzoil semi-synthetic 10W-30. Engine is now quieter and smoother - how can Ford seriously recommend not changing the oil until 15,000 kms? Also, the Pennzoil 10W-30 meets SL/CF and GF-3 requirements, which exceeds the requirements stated by Ford (SJ/CF and GF-2).

Does anyone know what the factory fill oil is? I'm guessing it's BP, as according to the service book, the Ford oil for the turbos and V8s is Visco 3000. Does ANYONE out there use Visco 3000 in their turbo or V8?

Re: What type of Oil do you use ?

I'm with MADDER, I use PENRITE HPR 5 as advised by Penrite for the GT, always found their product to be better maybe just personal preferance but there you have it. The Harley uses for the new one (1999) HPR GAS and the old one (1937) HPR 50, the RS 2000 uses HPR 30 so I guess Penrite for me.

Re: What type of Oil do you use ?

My Gt uses no oil and the dealer puts in Helix Ultra fully synthetic.
