Re: XR8 overheat!!!!!!!!

Unless combustion pressure is entering cooling system, an air pocket may exsist in cooling system? If not overheating whilst on the road / highway speed, but just at idle, maybe a blockage in cooling system.

Re: XR8 overheat!!!!!!!!

Hi Chris
The way you describe the problem sounds like the coolant is boiling and coming out through the overflow. I would check for a thermostat that is stuck closed, or one (or both) fans not working at high/low speed. These thermostats should open up around 92 degrees, and fans should come on high speed around 102-105. If you see the coolant boil inside the tank around the time when the fans come on high your system is not holding pressure, and since you replaced the tank, I'll go straight for the cap. cheers
Marc
